Why does God allow suffering?

"And when Peter saw it, he addressed the people"

See what happens when Peter identified the opportunity to tell about Jesus...

Peter identifies the beginning of an era that the bible calls the "last days".

It opens up a final chapter of time, with no definite length, but a clear end;
The full stop. is the return of Christ.

In his second letter to the Thessalonians, Paul writes about "the day of the Lord"

Peter speaks of the "Last Days" and Paul speaks of "the day", at the end of the "Last Days"

If Peter is correct…and we believe He is…
then this was the beginning of the end.

Peter, filled-with the Holy Spirit, speaks prophetically
About the unfolding will of God at work in that community:
"The Last Days…"

In the Epistles of Peter we see the reiteration of these ideas by Peter.

In Luke 17:20-37 records Jesus' words about the last days...
Just like other times in history, life will be going-on from day-to-day..
People who aren't paying attention to God, will be surprised by it.
and some will be a part of it, others have chosen to be left out of it...

In Acts 2 Peter quotes the Prophet Joel, who wrote around 592 BC, and said things that describe events that were happening in his day, in his future, and some of it, yet in our future.

And God uses Peter, on that first Pentecost, to make a clear and eternal promise, true of every day...

If there were a picture of the church, the word UNITY would describe it.

The fruitfulness Jesus promised did come on that day.
The fruitfulness Jesus promised does come today.
This happens every time a person becomes yielded
to the life that comes when we repent and turn from sin
in order to obediently follow Jesus.
